Rob has established himself among the most trusted and sought-after counsel in the country on appropriations strategy and accessing public sector capital, as well as providing strategic advisory services on federal policy development and regulatory risk analysis.

 

In his more than 20 years of experience, Rob has:

  • Spent more than a decade handling several Appropriations subcommittees for multiple chairmen, focusing on policy areas such as homeland security, energy, environment, nuclear weapons, defense, transportation, water infrastructure, and science and technology.

  • Led work on behalf of Fortune 500 clients in the major energy and environment, technology and telecommunications, and advanced transportation and defense policy sectors.

  • Helped companies access government capital through competitive funding opportunities and financing at the state, federal and international levels, including interacting with agency officials and connecting clients with national labs.

  • Overseen and executed the successful submission of more than 60 funding applications and led client project proposals totaling more than $3 billion

  • Worked with Fortune 100 clients to develop go-to-market and M&A strategies by examining strategic adjacencies and growth opportunities.

  •  Examined commercialization trajectories and capital-raising opportunities in the public and private sectors for innovative companies and start-ups.

 

Rob began his career working in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he served as deputy chief of staff, Appropriations associate staff and legislative director for three members of Congress. He left Capitol Hill to join McBee Strategic Consulting, where he was Executive Vice President and head of the firm’s Appropriations practice. Rob was also Managing Director of the firm’s Government Capital Practice, which he co-founded more than five years ago. Prior to starting HHQ Ventures with Rashid Hallaway and Ben Quayle, Rob was the CEO of Hobart Ventures, LLC, a boutique government relations and consulting business.

Rob is a graduate of the University of Illinois.  Rob divides his time between Washington, D.C., and Nashville, where he lives with his twins Robert and Hattie.
